the lilacs are at it again!
the whole block drunk on purple light
in that indolic way that makes you grab 
from the generous display
and say smell this
like it’s not already all I smell
like i haven't been tracking each moment
since the buds first opened
and isn’t that just the thing
we want to isolate a moment
you with your lilacs, me with our fingers touching
but the petals keep falling
and the way your hair catches light now
versus ten minutes ago or
the precise duration
of a held breath before laughter.
